February

This is why I can’t get any work done.

So hello, February! January seemed long, but also like it went by fast somehow. This month is supposed to be colder than last month, so here’s hoping it wont be too much cooler. Everyone, stay safe and warm!

I have a lot of personal goals to get through this month, so I might not post as much as I did last month. I’m still studying for the HiSET and hopefully I’ll be able to sign up for Spring classes at our local community college. Aside from that, I have a lot of crafting to do for my shop and for my friends. That might take longer than I’d like due to it being so cold and clay being harder to work with in cooler months, but I’m determined to get them done! I’ll post the results as I finish them.

Back to work I go and if you’re caught up in snow like I am, stay safe!

Snow and Instruments

Phantom pretty much sums up how I’m feeling at the moment, haha. I’m tired of snow and cold weather and I’m ready for summer. To make things worse, the heating at work is useless and the building management is being rather slow about doing something about it. It being so cold in the office only makes my job that much more irritating.

But enough of that, onto better things!

Recently, I’ve been looking around for a good beginner bass and found a purple Ibanez that I really like, so I think I’ll start saving up for it. I’ve had a bass before, but didn’t get to practice on it very much. The one that I’m looking at is even better than the one I had. If I do get it, this time, I’ll actually learn how to play it properly and not leave it sitting in it’s bag. I think the problem with my old one, the reason why I didn’t play it very much, was because it was a bit bigger than I would have liked (it was a present) and it never felt very comfortable. The one that I’m looking at, however, is lighter and smaller than the one I had, so I think it’ll be easier for me to handle.

That’s all from me for now since I’m up past my bedtime. Here’s hoping the snow will melt faster!

New Year’s Day 2014

First photo of 2014 (pay no attention to the clock in the back; we have yet to change the time on it), Phantom as always. Kitty is very offended by the smell of beer.

My first day of the year wasn’t all that exciting and even felt somewhat gloomy thanks to the overcast skies. It’s supposed to start snowing again tonight, so that means that the drive to work in the morning wont be very fun and very cold.

Today wasn’t all a loss though, I did get a few things done that needed to be done and also changed and registered my domain. My handle here and other places has been moecona for a few years now, but I felt that, the blog at least, needed a change and this one is a bit more personal to me. Aside from that, my roommate installed my new graphics card for me, so my computer is running a lot smoother than it was. It was starting to get impossible to play many games or go on any site that had flash without it crashing. So far, I’m happy with it!

This weekend, if I’m not having to work OT, I’ll be working on my layout. I meant to have that done before today, but with the computer crashing so much, I didn’t want to take a chance on losing any editing work.

Stopping here for now so that I can watch more of The Twilight Zone marathon before I have to go to bed, so good night! I hope everyone had an enjoyable start to the new year.

Christmas

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas. Mine was nice and I had a great time with my friends later in the night.

BBCA had Doctor Who running all day, so that’s pretty much what we watched. We watched the new Christmas special as well and that was so-so. I actually fell asleep near the beginning (I blame it on three glasses of rum and ginger ale), so I can’t really give a proper review on it. I woke up in time for the last five minutes of it and that was a bit confusing and I decided that I didn’t really need to see all of it. This season had been full of not so great writing and the Christmas special didn’t seem any different. I’m also not that sad to see Matt Smith go. Yes, he was a good Doctor, but not the best ever. Honestly, I don’t have a favorite and think that they’re all too great in their own ways to call just one the best over all.

Also, after this poorly scripted season, I do hope they refresh their writing because I think Peter Capaldi’s Doctor will be great as long as they give him a decent script and not waste his talent.

Anyway, enough about all of that. Later on in the evening a friend of ours came over and we ended up watching episodes 1-3 of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (the recent TV anime) and that was highly amusing. I wouldn’t recommend it for everyone because it’s not really for everyone, but if you love nonsense and enjoy great action animation, then this might be for you. And, of course, one of my favorite voice actors, Koyasu Takehito, voices the villain. I do love his villains. He’s just perfect at them, even better if they’re flamboyant, it just fits him. Watching that made me excited for the upcoming Stardust Crusaders which will be out sometime next year.

And that was pretty much my Christmas. Here, have a Phantom with one of his new toys.

Christmas Eve

20131224-231501.jpg

Hard to believe Christmas is tomorrow (rather, in less than an hour for me). It’s felt like this year has sort of flown by in a strange way and Christmas sort of snuck up on me and I’m not quite ready. A lot of gifts from me to my friends are going to be more like New Years gifts instead. Oh well, it’s the thought that counts, right? I’ve been working a lot of OT at work since I’ve come back from Japan, so that’s delayed my gift getting. Just no time or energy to shop.

My Christmas Eve was uneventful and somewhat stressful compared to previous ones, but I did get some delicious rum to end my night on a good note.

Anyway, off to bed with me. I hope everyone has or had a happy holiday☆

Update of sorts

20131213-114157.jpg
I have quite a bit to write about, but I’ll get to that when I have more time. The last time that I updated, aside from yesterday’s photo, was May, so a lot(ish) has happened since then. I’ll leave out all the boring/irritating work related stuff and write about the better things, like my Japan trip, which was a lot of fun and I wish I were back there, but with my cat this time. Being away from Phantom for over three weeks makes me miss that big, squishy ball of gray terribly.

Also, I’ll be working on revamping my blog for the new year. This time I really will be sticking to updating more because I’m more likely to remember it’s here if I’m paying for it.

Happy Friday the 13th!
Remember: black kitties are good luck!

Mochi

20130103-234143.jpg

I’ve discovered that my cat really loves mochi (no surprise, really). I never give him very much, but only a tiny bit for a treat now and then. But more than mochi, he really really loves red bean paste, haha. I usually have to fight the little guy off of me when I’m eating it.

And, nothing to do with the above, I’m glad it’s finally Friday tomorrow. In going to spend the weekend resting and making more items for my shop, so if you’re keeping up with my shop look forward to new items soon!

Birds

Image

I’ve been noticing birds fly up on the deck quite a bit, so I bought a bird feeder for them. It’s just a small one, but I think I might have to upgrade to a bigger one after seeing how many have started flocking to it. There were at least 11 at once at different times during the day. A dove even showed up to nibble at the seeds that had fallen on the deck. It didn’t stay for long, though, because a certain Fatty-meow decided to charge at it through the glass, haha.

Speaking of, Phantom seems to love that more birds are showing up on the deck. He gets a lot of bird watching in during the day now. I forgot to get a picture of him watching his birds, but here’s one of him with his favorite toy, a fake rose. He became attached to it as a kitten and likes to carry this around the house.

Internet!

We finally got our cable/Internet moved to the new place today! We had wanted it sooner, but since we had to reschedule due to our original moving date getting pushed back, we had to go with what date was available. We were without it for about a week (short hotel stay in Memphis doesn’t count) and, to us internet addicts, that seemed like the longest week ever, haha.

Anyway, it’s all set up, so this place feels pretty complete now. We also bought a microwave, so we’re set!

Tomorrow, I’m going to buy some things for my room so I can finally get it all in order. Pictures to come after it’s finished!

I can’t leave this entry picture-less, so here’s a Phantom doing cute Phantom-y stuff.
