Pokémon Go Community Day

Last weekend my roommate and I went out to Fenton Park to attend the Pokémon Go Community Day festivities. It was fun and we even met up with some of our local raid buddies! Below is just a small portion of the ginormous crowd gathered to do a Kyogre raid. There were at least 100 people there, perhaps more, making it the biggest legendary raid I’ve taken part in.

To make it even better, it was a gorgeous day and it felt great to be outside without the piercing cold wind. Lately, it’s been freezing and not weather I like to be outside in, but last Saturday was a bit warmer and more autumn-like, the kind of weather I prefer. I actually had to take my hoodie off because it got a little too warm for it.

The next community day is on February 24th, so we’ll join in again! (As long as the weather isn’t crap, that is!)

Day at the zoo

The weather has been a bit up and down here lately, mostly down being that it’s still winter, but near the end of January it was actually quite warm. So, since it was a nice day and Katie wanted to test out one of her new lenses, we headed out to the zoo.

First, we went to see one of my personal favorites – lemurs! Specifically, ring-tailed lemurs.

After those guys, we headed over to see the big cats. I didn’t get many photos of them though because it was quite crowded around their viewing areas. The next ones that I took the most pictures of were the red pandas.

Of course, one of them was sleeping, but even sleeping it was adorable.

Then it was off to another one of my favorites – Rockhopper Penguins!

This guy was posing for everyone.

Those are some of the best ones of the ones that I took, I think, but the rest are on my flickr.

This week’s volume is cutting it close, but we managed to get it in before midnight! Tonight we are preparing to make our own cat food so that the cat crew can start their raw diets. They’re not handling the smell of raw chicken and not being able to eat it yet too well.

“What are you doing, human? Why does it smell good?”

“Is that…chicken?”

2016 Start

Happy New Year!
I hope everyone’s start to 2016 was a good one. I spent most of the first resting and reading, but we did go out for a couple of hours to survey the flooding in Valley Park. The waters had gone down some, but, as you can see in the photos below, there’s still quite a bit under water.

The rest of my evening was spent snuggling up with this cute kitty below.

Goodbye 2015

Taken by Katie

There’s still a bit of 2015 left to go for me, but many of my friends are already in 2016, so happy new year!

2015 has been a difficult year for me and those around me, so here’s hoping the new year will be much better for everyone. I’m sure most have heard about the flooding going on here in Missouri. I live quite close to the affected areas, but luckily we live on higher ground, so we’re fine. My roommate went out on Wednesday morning to see the rising waters and take a few pictures and you can view them here – Historic Flooding in Valley Park, MO.

Ending my last post of the year with an update on the little calico (pictured above) from the previous post. I’ve named her Sogo and she’s doing much better now. She seems to be fitting in well with the others, though she’s still cautious around them at times. She seems to be happy here and that makes me happy.

Forest Park in Autum

fp
Last weekend I tagged along with Katie over to Forest Park for another photo assignment she needed to get done. I actually hadn’t really been over there to walk around before, so there’s another place I can mark off my list. It’s lovely there in autumn, though it was super overcast that day. Here’s a few shots that I took.

I had Mamo-chan with me again. I really like how the colours in this one turned out.

The STL Science Center is nearby, so of course I had to get a shot of the T-Rex.

After we left that location, we headed over to The Muny to get a few more shots. We didn’t get to take as many there though because there were too many wedding parties getting photos taken.

I look forward to going back there again! Hopefully next time there will fewer big groups of wedding parties.

Ending this with a Rio since it’s National Cat Day.

Tower Grove Park

Long time no write! Things have actually been pretty busy for me lately, so I’m posting these a bit later than I’d wanted to. Near the end of last month, I went to Tower Grove Park with my roommie so that she could take some photos for her photography class. I took a few as well of course!

Also, I had a little friend with me. I usually keep my ball-jointed doll photography to a separate blog, but I like how these turned out. This is Mamo-chan

He’s good at the creepy mischievous expression.

After we were done there we headed over to the City Garden and was greeted with bunny backside.

I have a lot more, but I don’t want this post to be too image heavy, so I leave you with one of the bunbuns!

Laumeier Sculpture Park

Last Sunday, I went with my roomie Katie to Laumeier Sculpture Park so that she could get some shots for her photography assignment. It’s been a few years since I’ve been there and they’ve added some things since then, so I took a few photos as well!

I didn’t remember this cat from the last time I went, so I was delighted to see it!

It’s a pretty neat place to visit and I would definitely recommend checking it out. Katie took a lot more (and better) photos, so go check out her blog!

Phantom Phriday Vol. 11

ppv11

This week’s Phantom Phriday is cutting it a little close to being out of Friday, so here’s a quick post featuring Aya and Rio!

Aya is really starting to take after Rio. She copies Rio if she sees her doing something, like flopping over like this.

IMG_6086

She’s also started to bring Rio toys that Rio loves playing with (milk rings and brightly coloured strings), which makes her look more like Rio’s servant. I’m sure Rio thinks of her as that anyway, haha.

I took some footage of the two playing around, so enjoy and happy Friday! (what’s left of it anyway..!)
